The Fremont Art Association operates a Gallery located in the historic Niles district of Fremont. The Association offers monthly guest artist demonstrations, gallery exhibiting privileges, feature artist showcases, annual events, and the opportunity to interact with a large group of seasoned artists. Click here for more information. The Fremont Art association also has a newsletter, the "Local Color" , which is published monthly.

Membership is open to anyone, 18 years and over, who is interested in supporting our goals of fostering, promoting and encouraging the cultivation, and appreciation of Art.

WINNERS ANNOUNCED FOR THE FREMONT ART ASSOCIATION 8TH ANNUAL OPEN STUDIOS TOUR

The Fremont Art Association 8th Annual 2009 Open Studios Tour took place Saturday, May 30 and Sunday, May 31. Many joined us for this fun event and discovered some exciting new artistic talent, and got up close and personal with their favorite artists. There were 39 artists at 14 locations participating in this weekend event this year.

Winning participants who visited the most sites were: Charlie Hernandez, Cheryl Jacinto, Fran Earl, Warren Earl, Linda Joile, Taylor Joile, Isabel Braunstein, Wayne Neilson, Susan Lumpkin, Whelly Quintana, Ann Anderson, and Michaelene Miles.

THIRD QUARTER SHOWCASE ARTIST ~ DON CARDOZA

The Fremont Art Association is pleased to announce Don Cardoza, the associations Third Quarter Showcase Artist. Cardozas´ current body of work, including a unique portrait of Christ derived from the stains on the Shroud of Turin, will be on display at the Fremont Art Associations Gallery located at 37659 Niles Boulevard in Fremont. The exhibit will take place July 11th through July 26th. You can meet the artist at a reception held in his honor at the gallery on Sunday, July 12th from 1:30 ­ 4:00pm, hors d´oeuvres and beverages will be served. A variety of new works from additional member artists will compliment the gallery´s third quarter offerings. Please join with your community in celebrating this accomplished artist.

About the Artist:
Don Cardoza, "Daddy Don" is a native Californian and has lived in the San Francisco bay area most of his life. Raised by an artist and a musician, Cardoza has studied both artistic disciplines from an early age and throughout his education; Cal State East Bay University 1972, Graduate studies University of Utrecht, Amsterdam Conservatory of music, University of California and Mills College MA 1977

Cardoza has traveled and performed widely through the US, Europe and Asia and brings a unique eclectic perspective of Christian, Hindu, Sufi and Buddhist influences to his work. He has studied modern composition, painting and sculpture with the Korean artist Nong, new music composition with Terry Riley and traditional northern Indian Hindustani raga singing with Master vocalist Pandit Pran Nath. Cardoza formed his first jazz groups when he was a teenager and continues to perform at venues throughout the Bay Area as a pianist, vocalist and bandleader. An album of solo piano standards is slated to be released this summer and a showcase of his artwork commences kicks off at the Fremont Art Association in July. Cardoza´s recent work includes in depth portrait studies from his month long journey to the Philippine Islands. Don has taught piano, Jazz and theory at Ohlone College and Cal State East bay since 1990. He has been the organist for Corpus Christi Catholic Church since 1996 and has supported The Fremont Art Association as an artist, musician and as treasurer.
