FAQ for Exhibiting (or Selling Artwork) at the FAA
Who can show their art in the Fremont Art Association Gallery?
Only members of FAA can display art in the gallery. Membership is open to adults.
You can join on the website – fremontartassociation.org
You can also come to the gallery on weekends to join.
What kind of art is accepted in the Fremont Art Association Gallery?
Paintings (all mediums); digital art; photography; jewelry; ceramics; fiber art (items sewn from cloth; knitted and crocheted items); wood; leather; metal; mixed media; beadwork; greeting cards.
How long can my art be in the gallery?
Exhibits in the FAA gallery run for 3 months. Art is taken in on Receiving Day only.
Do I have to have a Seller’s Permit or Business License to sell in the FAA Gallery?
No. FAA collects the sales tax on each sale and pays it to the State of California.
How much does it cost to have my art in the FAA Gallery?
There is a space rental fee for the art (see below). When art sells, FAA gets 20% of the sale price.
Are there any other requirements to have my art in the gallery?
FAA is a co-op, so all members exhibiting in the gallery must staff the gallery 3 times each quarter for the hours the gallery is open. You sign up during receiving.
How does the space rental work?
Wall art - the rental fee for each Quarter is calculated as follows:
-
Calculate square inches by multiplying length x width, including frame.
-
Multiply the square inches by $0.03=total cost. $15 is minimum cost per piece
3. Wall art must measure no more than 40 inches in either height and/or width.
3-D pieces - pedestals are used to exhibit and the rental fee is calculated as follows:
-
Place the items next to each other (not stacked up) on a 16-inch square.
-
Rental fee for each square (or part of a square) is $15 for the Quarter
-
More than 1 square might be needed.

Hanging specifications for submitted 2D artwork:
Because of the nature of the hanging system, artwork must be wired in a way so that the wall hooks are not exposed.
1. Flat hangers or D-rings must be used. These are available at the gallery for a small cost. No sawtooth hangers or eyehooks.
2. Hanger is attached 1/3 of the way down from the top of the frame.
3. The top of the wire must be 3 to 4 inches below the top of the frame. Please use picture hanging wire only.
4. On the back of the artwork, please place a tag with the following information:
First and Last Name of Artist
Title of Artwork
Medium
Price
Phone Number of Artist
